The Dangers of Xylitol

Xylitol, a sugar alcohol, is a popular sugar substitute(40% fewer calories than sugar).
It is found today in many products including; chewing gums, toothpastes, and other oral care products. Xylitol is not used by the bug most responsible for dental decay (S. mutans) hence its popularity in dental products.

Xylitol is slowly absorbed by humans. This minimizes human side effects. On the contrary dogs experience a fast and massive increase in insulin after ingesting small amounts.

A dog that eats 3-4 pieces of gum is at risk for liver necrosis and failure.

Any amount of xylitol is considered toxic for dogs.

Fish Oils

Fish oils are rich in Omega-3 FATTY ACID. They help with improving heart, immune, brain, joint articulation and kidney health. What is critical is to choose the best and healthiest product.

1. Basic fish oil comes from the livers of codfish. Can be high in PCP's, DDT and mercury. The product has low concentrations of Omega-3FA. Can only be taken in low doses.

2. Health-Food Grade Fish Oil (HFGFO). PCB can still be present. Typically 300mg of Omega-3 per 1 gram capsule.

3. Pharmaceutical Grade Fish Oil. Starts with thermally fractionated HFGFO. Then it is distilled. A process that takes 100 gallons to get one gallon. The product is then balanced to the correct ratio of EPA to DHA (2:1). The product has very low levels of impurity. Safe to take in higher dosages and has 600mg of Omega-3 FA to every one gram.

Which product would you choose and put in your body?
